a haiku for summer in april

for a moment there
a chill, a blossom...and now
salt and sweat on skin

this is not my hand.

this is my sister's hand*.

knoxville this time of year is just bursting at the seams with spring. dogwoods, green green grass, azaleas, and all manner of blossoms are opening to meet the rain and sun. lovely. we were lucky enough to hitch a ride down south and we spent the easter weekend in tennessee, dyeing eggs and filling our tummies...it was a nice break from the big city. it's true what they say, it's important to get away every once in a while.

i tried to write a haiku, but i wasn't feeling it. instead, i'll say that i hope these april showers are bringing as many may flowers to chicago as they are to brooklyn. we'll be stopping by for a visit next month. can't wait to see you.
